Dragon’s Dogma 2 Review
great
More of a redo than a sequel, Dragon's Dogma 2 is a strange and wonderful action-RPG that bolsters the original’s strengths without addressing its weaknesses.

Fun if you can ignore the frame drops at points and know that the game is meant to be a little goofy. Micro transactions in a single player game is crazy though. You can get all the items that are sold in game though. All the people crying about it have not actually played any of the game and have not made it to the main city yet. Its a single player game if you don't want to "cheat" by buying "booster packs" then don't buy them. Play the game how you want to play it.
People crying about DLC show that they have never played a modern Capcom game before, as all of their recent releases have included unnecessary DLC upon release. DMC 5, for example, includes the ability to purchase gems, a currency you can obtain by just playing the game (obviously), and yet the ability to purchase them as DLC was there day one (of course, if you purchase said DLC, you may have a problem), and yet the game sits upon a nice 95% on Steam. Let the kids cry and throw their tantrum, they’ll move onto the next game, as they do. As far as the game goes, it’s great, good fun, especially love it when night falls and everything gets dark. A lot of games are scared of making actual dark nights, but never DD. Glad to see it return. I’m also a big, big fan of games that don’t hold your hand like a toddler, showing you where to go. Big, big plus, and I’m glad that this is finally becoming a bigger trend (thank you FromSoft). While CPU bottleneck is an issue on PC currently, I’m sure this will get fixed soon enough, but it’s currently the reason why I’m not scoring it higher. All in all, it’s more Dragon’s Dogma, and I couldn’t be happier. How about MML3 next?
Went into this expecting a weird fusion of Skyrim meets Elden Ring, not having played the first. And in some ways, it absolutely checks those boxes. But it’s actually the way this game diverts from both that fascinates me the most. This game won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I can see already that’s what makes it so special.
As a self-admitted ocd gamer who saves too often, it’s refreshing to have a game designer give you two middle fingers and say “take the journey, b****” - commanding you to make weighted choices and not spend your whole game experience fast traveling. If you indulge it, if feels like a real adventure, but I’m sure for others this might feel frustrating.
If you let yourself get immersed and not listen to the hate, you’re in for a treat. 9/10
I'm so incredibly disappointed in Capcom. I thought this game was going to be good because the first one was. Man was I wrong. They spent more time doing things with microtransactions. Instead of making the game good and enjoyable. Everything about the game including. Graphics, Story, Combat, Movement, and Gameplay. Is just so MEDICORE. In my opion there doing the same things as Ubisoft. Like i said this is incredibly disappointing.
Pretty good open world RPG. Find the right vocation and the game becomes incredibly fun. Combat is good, world is immersive, and it's fun to just go out and quest. Unfortunately, it is mired by certain, questionable game design decisions. The fast travel system is unnecessarily inconvenient at times. Traversal, especially when attempting to climb monsters, can be quite frustrating, and the lack of a proper, manual save system can restrict how you approach exploration and decision making.
Overall, good game, but it is brought down by too many questionable design decisions that keep it from achieving true greatness.

I never played the first game, but from what I was able to play, this is a very interesting RPG, although I think it has many aspects to improve, such as the game camera and the repetitive NPCs.
Be patient!
The rage about microtransactions is insane and dumb, the game never tells you that they exist and you would never realize it, because you will never need them. If i didnt see the rage about them online i wouldnt even know that they exist. The game easily gives you more than you could ever use. I finished the game in 95 hours and its a gem that needs a bit more polishing. The story is disappointingly short, but this game is not really about that, the first was similar, its about exploration and combat. Those are delivered perfectly. If you want a good adventure in a fantasy rpg then you will love this game. Complaints about the performance are valid, in cities it can go down to 25-35 fps, but outside in the world and in combat i was always around 90.
Great Combat and Imerson, if I where to point to a problem it would be not being able to teleport to some main quest locations

You should know that there are not quite as many kinds of monsters as you think, and the main story is quite short. However, if you are able to slow down, Dragon's Dogma 2 really worthies a try. Besides, traveling in the game really tolerates.
Very disappointing

don't get discouraged about the mucrotransaction issues thats been blowing up. the game is great and mtx isn't even needed. all items in mtx is obtainable in game within the firs few hours so try the game out if you are able to. great game!

just a really fun open world game. great combat and fun exploration
I'm not a troll, but I am very disappointed.
The physics are terrible. Combat is a spammy mess. The graphics are last-gen at best, and yet somehow demanding. The writing is cliche AF. Even the UI is typical Capcom trash. The only thing this has going for it is you can jump on the spongy monsters.
It feels to me like a significant Skyrim Mod - and I love Skyrim - but that is not a compliment in this case. Wish I didn't buy it on a discount from Fanatical. Boo.
How did this game get such great reviews?
DLC is completly optional, pretty much everything in the cash shop you can easily get by playing the game
At the time of writing its performance on PC is terrible, and crashes alot, but outside of that the only sin this game commits is having Microtransactions (for some unknown reason), and even more baffling anti-cheat software for a single player game.
requesting IGN to change your rating for this game. i follow IGN's ratings to understand which are great games. The surprise reveal of microtransactions for simple fast travel is pathetic. Needs to be given a bad review for that.
I am too poor to play this shit.
