Palworld Early Access Review - Steam Version
great
Palworld may crib quite a bit from Pokémon’s homework, but deep survival mechanics and a hilarious attitude make it hard to put down – even in Early Access.

Not sure why people are calling it a pokemon ripoff, its not at all. its got the survival aspect of ARK, the designs are far greater, and the graphics and open world are mesmerizing and is an actual open world.
A mishmash of random ideas we've seen a million times in hundreds of different games, but done poorly. The usual hideous crafting, survival and building in a super bland open world. Ten different design languages all clashing with each other constantly on screen as if they had no idea what they wanted to accomplish in the first place with no originality whatsoever. Huge cash grab that will either disappear in a few months time or end up adding all kinds of micro transactions in a perpetual state of early access.

A sandbox minecraft style game with pokemon and no story. I'm not a minecraft fan and although I was super excited for this game ever since it was announced this game looks totally different than what they showed. This is maybe for Minecraft fans that like pokemon but Fortnite Lego is probably better? What a letdown maybe it will get better since its still early release but its not a good start, I highly doubt I'll come back to this garbage.
It honestly saddens me to have to write this. After waiting with hope for over a year since the announce of Palworld I finally got my hands on it, and... its just a cobble-clone. Assets and resources, probably even code from other games, clear rips from Ark (honestly im pretty sure most of this game is an overlay atop ARK coding) Pals are mixed ideas from other catch and battle games and resources. I really wanted this to be an amazing game, the concept was one for the ages, but upon execution, it falls flat and feels off, too many styles clash within game art design wise and doesn’t give a good feel for an overall cohesive world. Audio is atrocious, mainly reused assets from their prior project Craftopia including the main title and trailer theme. I know this is early access but it feels like more of a proof of concept more akin to the recent wolverine leak from insomniac, and with a "palcoin" system already implemented, it makes it seem more and more like this is a pump and dump cash grab fakeout, we have come to see more and more, prime example being The Day Before. I really hope Im wrong but at this point its not looking good for Palworld.
In its current state, I can’t really recommend Palworld to most people. I’ve hit the grind wall for this game, which starts at level 20+ and man it gets sluggish from its slow and repetitive gameplay. The open world is free to do anything in, but simultaneously has nothing to do in it. And this loop of catch, upgrade, build, catch, gets boring after a while.
Maybe in a couple of months the game will be updated and recommendable as it is still in early access, but Palworld is just not there yet. And this is being said from a guy who loves survival games, so it’s upsetting tbh.
This is what Pocket Monster should have done Years ago... Now that another company done it Gen Z&X complaining.. Pokémon been around since 1995 is not new. They have made Billions they just kept Recycling the same game over and over with new Pokémon. this is Different you dont like it DONT PLAY IT. Stop hating.
Human slavery should never be a gaming mechanic. Trapping, exploiting, or selling humans is inhumane and unethical.
The game is fun and it was definitely successful at escapism but reality hit hard and fast when human slavery was discovered. Not supporting that.
Can't play with large groups of people or any of my friends on steam.
Appears its definitely a pc only game. I wouldn't recommend for console players sadly.
Such a shame it looks fun.
It got really old by level 30 and without bumping exp rates to x7 I never would've reached the max level. There's also no memorable characters, music or pokemon (they'll earn their name when their game improves if it ever does) except for that one vulture plague doctor pokemon, which has to be the only thing it actually has over official Pokemon games.
Super addictive, cool mechanics, lots of playability. Vibrant and interesting.
It’s a mix of some classic favourites loved by many.
