This was the first time we have played Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and it is amazing. This is Nintendo Story telling at its best. So this is my first time every playing this game.
First off, i am old enough to say i have owned every Nintendo System in the same era of their release. I missed several games from the GameCube era and this was one of those games that i missed.
Paper Mario:TTYD is a game that very well could define what a Mario video game could be. To think that we spent 36 hours on a Gamecube game was surprising and time flies when your playing good game.
The story of TTYD is incredible. While the Big N has had some extremely good stories this Paper Mario game ranks in my top 5 greatest Nintendo Stories ever told.
The Gameplay is very generous and feels like a starter JRPG in many ways. This game is not hard to Pick up and play.
After finishing Paper Mario there were some reasons to continue playing. So the story can continue if you want it to.
If you have never played a Paper Mario game and wonder which one is the best, Thousand Year Door is the best hands down. If you are a Nintendo fan or a RPG fan, Play this game.
To Nintendo, Please make a Paper Luigi game. This game shows that Luigi could have had another story to tell other than busting ghosts.

Paper Mario has finally returned to its RPG roots with an amazingly loyal and visually dazzling remake of The Thousand-Year Door. Everything fans have been begging Nintendo to bring back is here, including a delightfully varied turn-based battle system with satisfying real-time elements and unique, lovable party members who are essential to both the story and gameplay. Rogueport and its surrounding areas are bursting with personality thanks to writing that’s just as sharp and funny today as it was in 2004. It also introduces a host of modern improvements that streamline (but don’t eliminate) the original’s backtracking issues, easily making this the best way to experience Mario’s quest to gather the Crystal Stars. There’s a reason The Thousand-Year Door has been considered one of the greatest Nintendo games for the last 20 years, and this brilliant remake ensures it will maintain that reputation for at least a thousand more.

Despite a good amount of double back running VERY frequently this is a fun engaging puzzle platform RPG blend that works well. Nostalgia glasses will give those who experienced the GameCube original even more appreciation but as a newcomer I can still highly recommend the game.
