Rescue the Tieflings
Rescue the Tieflings is a side quest in Baldur's Gate 3 where you're asked to save numerous tieflings from Moonrise Towers. Moonrise Towers is a fairly large facility, so this walkthrough will guide you through the best route to get to him and break him out of prison.
How to Start Rescue the Tieflings
This quest is only available if you ensured the tieflings survival at the druid's grove in Act 1. At Last Light Inn, speak to Alfira the tiefling bard to learn the fate of the tieflings that left the druid’s grove. Alfira fills you in on how many of the tieflings died in an ambush, but she also claims some of them were abducted and taken to Moonrise Towers, and she’d like you to rescue them. After your conversation, the quest will be added to your quest log.
Where Are the Tieflings?
The tieflings were taken to Moonrise Towers, but with the building being as large as it is, it can be tricky to navigate your way to them. The easiest way to the prisoners, and the most direct route, is through the door near the docks.
From the Tollhouse in Reithwin Town, head south down a flight of stairs, then hop across the ruined stone path to reach the docks. The door built into the east side of Moonrise Towers will grant you access to the Moonrise Tower Prison, where Wulbren and, potentially, other allies are being held.
Once you’re inside, head west into the prison, where you may find several imprisoned tieflings. Speaking to the prisoners is forbidden, unless you can convince the Warden that you have express permission. Speak to the tieflings, and they’ll ask you to discuss an escape plan with Wulbren; he needs some tools or a great club to smash open the wall at the back of his cell.
If you can get one to him, he’ll break out his fellow gnomes and the tieflings. One of the patrolling guards may trigger a fight before Wulbren can break the tieflings out, so use one of your characters to keep them occupied in dialogue while the prison break occurs.
The guards will become hostile at this point, so you’ll need to hold them off while the prisoners escape. The prisoners will do a decent job of hiding themselves in the tunnels behind the cells, you simply need to guard the entrances to stop any of the guards from chasing after them.
When the fighting is done, follow the prisoners through the tunnels to discuss where to take the boat. You can allow them to head over on their own, but it’s worth going with them to ensure their safety. After a brief inspection period, the prisoners are free to go when they arrive at the Last Light Inn. Speak to any of the tieflings you rescued, such as Rolan’s siblings, to receive your rewards. Bex and Danis, if he survived, can be found north of the stable. Lakrissa and Alfira can be seen reuniting by the hearth in the inn.
For all your efforts you’ll receive gold, potions, magic items and plenty of XP.
